After becoming a Christian in 1963, Michael attended Cliff College and worked as a lay evangelist in the Methodist Church (UK) from 1966 to 1969. In 1969 Michael, sensing God’s call upon his life to serve in Overseas Missions, entered the WEC Missionary Training College in Glasgow.
Esther was raised in a mining town in the English Midlands and, after leaving school, trained to be a nurse and a midwife. She left her job as a midwifery sister in 1969 to enter the WEC Missionary Training College in Glasgow.
Esther and Michael met at the WEC Missionary Training College in 1969 and married on 22nd July 1972. In the same year, they joined WEC International and have served with WEC International (Worldwide Evangelization for Christ) from 1972 until the present time. Ten years were spent in Indonesia, pioneering among various groups.
From 1982-1989, Michael and Esther based at their home church in Coalville, Leicestershire. During those years, Michael spent much time travelling and ministering in Indonesia and Singapore, as well as other parts of the world.
From 1989-2001, Michael and Esther were based in New Life Christian Centre Croydon. Esther spent a much of her time there ministering among the ladies and in the Christian School, and Michael, between preaching commitments in Croydon continued to travel as an itinerant evangelist and Bible teacher.
From 2001-2003, Michael served as Associate Pastor at Emmanuel Evangelical Church in Westminster, London, and Esther also worked on the staff of the church. In late 2003 Michael and Esther took up the role of the WEC Coordinators for London and the South-East of England region. In 2006 they moved to Bracknell in Berkshire.
From 2006 until the present time, Michael and Esther have spent much time travelling and ministering in South-East Asia and particularly in Singapore where Michael was recently honoured with the title of Honorary Pastor of the Anglican Church of our Saviour. Together, Michael and Esther also teach each year at the WEC Cornerstone College in Holland and regularly teach over many years at the WEC Bulstrode Candidate’s Orientation Course. Michael has also travelled and ministered extensively in the USA and Canada.
Michael and Esther’s home church is Kerith Community Church in Bracknell. They have also recently taken on the role of chaplains to the WEC Community in Bulstrode. Michael and Esther have two children, Angela and Timothy. Angela lives in London with her South African husband, Mario; Timothy has been living in Singapore for the past nine years.
On the 3rd August 2017, Michael Ross-Watson graduated to heaven. He was loved by so many all around the world, but is now resting in the beautiful presence of Jesus.
